New version closes the security loophole when using app extensions
(BERLIN/DENVER, October 28, 2014) Enterprise mobility expert Cortado recommends its customers and other businesses update from iOS 8 to iOS 8.1. The new version of the operating system closes the security gap for apps with app extensions.
With the release of iOS 8.1, Apple has optimized the previous OS version. The latest version closes a security loophole with app extensions that were able to bypass the secure business container without the relevant additional security measures. With the update to iOS 8.1, companies can now resolve this OS security issue and now use all apps with app extensions also within the secure business container.
“iOS 8.1 makes it possible to extend the secure business container to app extensions. These apps are now no longer excluded from using the secure container, for example due to blacklisting, but can be securely used thereby significantly enhancing productivity opportunities,” said Kristin Montag, product manager Cortado Corporate Server at Cortado. “Companies really should upgrade to iOS 8.1, not just because of bug fixing, but it also offers a more fluid user experience, for example support for messaging on all Apple devices.”
More information about setting up a secure business container with iOS 8 can be found in the white paper Enterprise Mobility with iOS 8 – The new iPhone and iPad enterprise features.
