Cortado Simplifies ThinPrint Licensing Model for Channel Partners and Customers

Cortado makes work for ThinPrint channel partners easier with solely user-based licenses and a clearer product policy

(Berlin/Denver, 28 February 2014) Cortado, globally leading expert for print optimization with its solution ThinPrint, has fundamentally revised its licensing model with the new ThinPrint version 10. Cortado now requires only user-based licenses for the ThinPrint Engine. Server licenses have been phased out and Cortado’s Host Integration Service, Print Management Center, and Connected Gateway have been integrated into the premium version. This restructuring has made quote preparation radically more simple for channel partners. In addition to standard and premium licenses, an annual, user-based rental model is offered too. Additionally an annual, user-based rental model is offered. Most important, the benefits of ThinPrint can now be enjoyed in any environment without additional costs. Thus, users who have only used ThinPrint in their terminal server session can now enjoy the benefits of the V-Layer with their local Windows, too.

“With our new licensing model, we are significantly simplifying the work for our channel partners. All they need to know for their quote is the number of users, whether our premium functions are needed, and whether the customer wants to buy or rent,” said Dirk Löwenberg, sales director at Cortado. “This allows our partners to complete their projects faster and more efficiently.”

In addition to the licensing model, license management has also been greatly simplified. In the new ThinPrint Engine 10, all licenses are activated and managed conveniently through a central license server. Thanks to a clearly laid out HTML5 management console, IT officers have all important license information at their fingertips anytime and anywhere – whether it’s the number of currently assigned or free licenses or upcoming expiration dates for licenses.

Another benefit of the new licensing for ThinPrint customers is that they can use as many servers as they like without affecting the price of the ThinPrint licensing and without the added effort of managing licenses.

The ThinPrint Engine 10 is now available. User licenses start at $18.85.

More information about the new licensing model is available in a flyer at www.thinprint.com/licensing

ThinPrint 10: Virtual Printing Meets Physical Desktops

New version optimizes printing for all network infrastructures, regardless of equipment

(BERLIN/DENVER, February 26, 2014) Cortado, the leading provider of solutions for virtual, mobile, and client printing, today extends the benefits of its ThinPrint line to all employees in enterprises with the launch of ThinPrint Engine 10. With its new ThinShare technology, users with physical desktops such as PCs and laptops can now benefit from compression and standardized printing, regardless if via Wi-Fi or in branch offices. Cortado also responded to the increased importance of Macs in the enterprise with a native Mac client. Furthermore, version 10 combines the stability of a solution with 15 years of experience with numerous other improvements and innovative features, such as its own font management and a centralized license server.

The overcomplicated use of different printers, as well as slow and incorrect printing are a nuisance for everyone involved. Employees are interrupted in their work and IT spends too much time dealing with decentralized administration of printing environments and printer drivers. The resulting costs for a company are often immense.

ThinPrint, with more than 20,000 customers in over 116 countries, has been an essential player in print management for many years. This includes Citrix, VMware and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services environments. ThinPrint Engine 10 extends the range of scenarios to physical desktops with local applications and reliably supports IT departments, users and enterprises in all potential scenarios and environment sizes.

A major innovation in version 10 is Cortado’s ThinShare technology, which ensures that print jobs are fully compressed without any additional software installation required. A virtual driver, the ThinPrint Output Gateway, is used to keep desktops free from printer drivers. In addition, employees benefit from a uniform GUI for all printers, regardless of manufacturer. This includes the most popular add-on features, such as hole-punching or binding. As a result, cost savings arise from the reduced burden on helpdesks and user productivity increases. For additional cost savings, IT can centrally preset default low-cost printer settings, such as black & white and duplex printing.

Print job tracking and comprehensive reporting is also included for the IT department in order to further optimize the printer environment. For example, the print load can be better distributed among existing printers in the company. In addition to the proved and patented ThinPrint features, a new font management ensures even greater performance and quality of printing results. No longer are entire fonts, often with 22-25 MB of data, transferred. Instead, just the individual characters that are actually needed for the specific print job are transmitted.

ThinShare can also be used to pursue print server consolidation. Thanks to ThinShare’s ability to provide the highest-possible levels of compression, print jobs can be efficiently handled via central print servers rather than directly at branch offices. Also, when printing via the Wi-Fi network, print data is reduced by up to 98 percent. This is a major solution for such a common cause of bottlenecks in many organizations.

“ThinPrint Engine 10 is a real milestone. As the leading solution in the field of virtual printing, we are pleased that our 15 years of experience now benefit users of physical desktops, including those working with laptops in Wi-Fi networks,” said Thorsten Hesse, product manager ThinPrint, at Cortado. “Introducing standardized printing with its immense cost-saving potential, without turning the IT environment on its head or installing software on individual machines, is particularly beneficial for our existing customers as well as entirely new customer groups.”

ThinPrint Engine 10 comes with a new, simple licensing model that offers completely user-based licensing. Annual user licenses are also available in addition to premium versions including enhanced components such as the ThinPrint Management Center, Host Integration Service and Connected Gateway. User licenses are available from just $18.85.

Cortado Launches ThinShare to Free Up Wi-Fi Capacity

New ThinPrint technology solves bandwidth problems when printing

(DENVER, February 20, 2014) Cortado, developer of the leading virtual printing solution, ThinPrint, announces its groundbreaking new ThinShare technology that uses up to 98 percent less bandwidth when printing on Wi-Fi networks. Companies can take advantage of this feature with Cortado’s ThinPrint Engine 10, due to be released at the end of February.

Today, virtually every business relies on Wi-Fi. The more users logging on via their laptops, tablets or smartphones, the greater the risk of bandwidth bottlenecks. Aside from transmitting files, the greatest challenge facing bandwidth is printing. Since the file size of a print job is often a multiple of the original, available bandwidth is significantly reduced. For example, when printing a 1 MB PDF file, a print file size of up to 50 MB may be generated. As a result, all processes dependent on Wi-Fi run slower and are prone to instability, limiting productivity for all employees involved.

The solution to this widespread problem is finally available with the new ThinPrint Engine 10. The ThinShare technology developed with the new version compresses all print jobs transmitted via Wi-Fi to the print server. Print data is reduced by up to 98 percent, ultimately allowing a more stable, efficient and robust Wi-Fi network. More users can work simultaneously in the network without encountering the common issues associated with limited bandwidth.

“With ThinShare, administrators can solve all their bandwidth problems in their Wi-Fi networks for less than $20 per user. Additional bandwidth, routers or restrictions for users are not necessary,” said Thorsten Hesse, product manager ThinPrint at Cortado, “This is just one of countless innovative features and technologies that we are implementing with the new ThinPrint Engine 10.”

Further advantages for office printing available with the ThinPrint Engine 10 include: a common print dialog making printing easier than ever for users and reducing the burden on help desk staff. Centralized driver management ensures that all PCs are kept free of printer drivers. This allows printer properties to be centrally managed and adjusted enabling default duplex printing. Furthermore, printing activities can be evaluated thanks to tracking features.

ThinPrint Engine 10 will be released at the end of February 2014. Annual user licenses are available from just $18.85.
