Shoreline supports U.S. EMV migration with card personalization and SaaS picture services

Austin, September 22, 2014 – Shoreline, a Gemalto company, is reinforcing its portfolio of personalization services to offer the AllAboutMe picture card solution to accompany the ramp-up of EMV migration in the U.S. Leveraging the card customization in software-as-a-service (SaaS) mode from Gemalto, Shoreline will provide a one-stop service for personalization and order fulfillment in the region. The solution, which offers cardholders abilities to interactively customize their card designs has already achieved average increases of 54% in card activation and 68% in card usage through 230 successful deployments worldwide.

According to Aite Group, 70% of credit cards and 41% of debit cards in the U.S. will be EMV enabled by end of 2015. Addressing this major transition, Shoreline’s AllAboutMe is now a complete end-to-end offer tailored to US customers’ needs and delivered right to their doorsteps. Its ease of deployment and user friendly approach makes it a simple solution for financial institutions to enhance customer engagement and brand awareness.

Financial institutions deploying AllAboutMe tap into the important social and viral marketing channels by easily introducing ways for customers to share their card creations online. Existing deployments suggest every time a bank customer posts their card image on popular social channels, an average of 3.5 people click the link that directs them to the bank site where they can design a card of their own. The tool, which allows the cardholder to choose from a financial institution’s image library or use a personal picture, also incorporates an automated image checking to protect the bank’s image before final acceptance.

Alpha Showcases Power Solutions and Services at SCTE Cable-Tex Expo

Alpha Technologies, worldwide power solutions provider, will display a wide array of Cable TV/Broadband Power products and services this week at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver, CO.

Cortado Corporate Server will enable direct access to the corporate network with extensions support

(BERLIN/DENVER, September 22 2014) Enterprise mobility expert Cortado announces that the upcoming version of its on-premises solution, Cortado Corporate Server, will support app extensions available with iOS 8. This means that users will be able to open and save documents directly to the corporate network with the Cortado solution – without having to resort to additional storage options and apps.


With iOS 7, interaction between apps on iOS devices has been via the “open in” option. Thus documents are “opened in” from one app to another and saved. Should the document be edited with another app, then this is done via “open in” and saving the file to a different location. The result is duplicated documents in multiple locations and tedious searching for the latest version of the file. Today, Cortado Corporate Server already offers this with Smart Filing, an intelligent way to save files from an app instantly and directly to the file server.


With iOS 8, this concept is even further simplified. Apple introduced app extensions, i.e. the opening of Apple up to other storage providers. Thanks to document providers, the user no longer has to constantly switch between apps and storage locations, but can save files in other systems.


The new version of Cortado Corporate Server, due later this year, will fully support this new iOS 8 feature. Directly via Cortado’s enterprise mobility solution, users will be able to access the corporate file server with their apps and save documents to the corporate network.

Miles & Stockbridge Deploys Tellabs Optical LAN in Second Location

The law firm extends the benefits of the fiber-based solution to new office in Virginia.

 NAPERVILLE, Ill. – September 16, 2014 – Tellabs, a leading provider of passive optical network (PON) solutions, and system integrator VT Group, today announced that law firm Miles & Stockbridge deployed Tellabs’ Optical LAN technology in its new office in Virginia, following the successful deployment of this solution in the law firm’s headquarters in Baltimore. Through the innovative technology that features the world’s smallest optical network terminal (ONT), the firm now has a more scalable, simpler network solution.

By leveraging fiber’s unlimited bandwidth, Optical LAN enables Miles & Stockbridge to easily meet its growing bandwidth needs and support future services. In the new office, Optical LAN provides gigabit speeds to support the firm’s voice-over-IP (VoIP), IPTV (Internet Protocol television), high-definition security cameras, audio-visual (A/V) technology and data services. These services are all integrated in a single converged architecture that provides centralized management and supports remote management. This makes the network simpler and delivers operational and management efficiencies that would not be possible with copper-based, active Ethernet LAN.

Specifically, Miles & Stockbridge deployed the Tellabs 1134 optical line terminal (OLT); Tellabs 709 and 728 ONTs; and Tellabs 120 Mini ONTs. All were designed to fit neatly into Miles & Stockbridge’s offices, in a standard wall outlet or inside a cubicle raceway, powered over Ethernet.
