Cortado’s ThinPrint 10 Frees Branch Offices From Print Servers
New ThinShare technology eliminates branch office print servers and reduces associated costs
(BERLIN/DENVER, March 04, 2014) Cortado, the world’s leading expert on printer virtualization with its ThinPrint solution, now enables consolidation of costly print servers with its new ThinShare technology. ThinPrint Engine 10, which includes ThinShare, is the first solution to ensure compression rates of up to 98 percent for all printing scenarios. This includes printing from a physical desktop to a central print server. By reducing the amounts of data while providing the highest level of performance with ThinPrint, print servers in branch offices can now be eliminated.
More and more companies are attempting to centralize their servers. The advantages are obvious: IT expertise needs only be concentrated in one location and the savings from hardware, operational costs and licenses are substantial. However, it has been extremely difficult to eliminate print servers in branch offices. The reason being that when printing from local applications in branch offices, huge amounts of data must be transferred from desktops to the print server at the headquarters. The consequences are slow printing, lower application performance levels and increased network instability. This results in a significant lack of user acceptance and ultimately, a failure in centralizing print servers.
A remedy is now available thanks to the ThinShare technology included in Cortado’s new ThinPrint Engine 10. With ThinShare, print data is compressed by up to 98 percent directly from the desktop and right through to the central print server. This is even possible without software being installed on the desktops, making the solution both easy and quick to implement. Compression of data returned from the central print server has already been possible with previous ThinPrint versions. The same applies for the fastest printing speeds guaranteed by features such as SpeedCache and the streaming of print jobs. With this combination, print servers can now easily be eliminated from branch offices. Enterprises save not only on hardware, but also on licensing, operating and personal costs associated with the decentralized management of infrastructure.
“With ThinShare, ThinPrint generates significant cost savings as well as enormous improvements in terms of network stability, flexibility and management,” said Thorsten Hesse, product manager ThinPrint at Cortado. “Because we now compress over the entire print process, it is irrelevant whether print jobs are initiated from a remote application at the headquarters, a hosted special application in a branch office or locally from your PC. Hardware and IT expertise is no longer necessary for smooth printing in branch offices.”
User licenses for ThinPrint Engine 10 are available from just $18.85. A free 30-day demo is available at: www.thinprint.com/10-demo
